TallFacades group visited the new building of the Norwegian Institute for Nature research, designed by Pir II architects. The five-story wooden building was recently completed in Trondheim and shows an interesting and demanding facade from the designers, engineers and producers point of view. The elevation has a wide variety of different facade components each showing specific exposure and vulnerability, which require specific solutions for moisture safety. This ambitious project will be an excellent case study with a lot of detailing to study.
Amongst those facade components are:
- balconies and roof terraces, that need special care for sealing
- loggias and bay windows, that produce corners and cornice with sealing effort
- different dimensions of windows and roof overhangs
- and different cladding types that influence the amount and speed of rain run-off
